Abstract:

The late preterm and early term infant is often called the ‘great pretender’ or ‘the imposter’. They appear as mature as their term counterparts however are at a high risk for short and longer term medical and neurodevelopmental complications.
This presentation will discuss the etiology and prevalence of late preterm deliveries and morbidities that impact this population. We will also discuss sensory development and its impact on feeding skill development as well as strategies that focus on providing preventative and proactive family centered care.
